EMS, Firefighting, and Law Enforcement began right out of high school for Heath.  While going to college for Automotive Technology, he joined the Marcellus Fire and Ambulance departments.  Getting his EMT license by the fall of 1992 and then his Firefighting license in 1993.  He volunteered for approximately 19 years for Marcellus.

From 1993 until around 2000 he worked at the Ford Dealership in Kalamazoo.  Learning about the first generation Powerstroke diesel, he thought….hmm, someday these will be out of warranty and need to be fixed.  In 2000 He was involved with working on specifications for a new ambulance for Marcellus.  He was hired mid spec by Tom Goggan at Goggan and Associates.  Tom was looking for a Ford chassis technician.  During his time there until February of 2003 he learned from some very well trained technicians about ambulances and firetrucks.  When Goggan and Associates closed he later ended up at Life EMS Ambulance of Kalamazoo. 

It was at Life EMS that he learned about proactive fleet readiness.  

How to work with your customers determining cost per mile, failure rates, and advising them on when and which vehicles to get rid of.  Focusing on low failure rates and down times for these emergency vehicles was paramount. This also allowed better fuel economy and lower cost per mile.  It really is cheaper in the long run to do it right the first time, and use factory quality parts.  After many requests from customers and friends to start his own business he left Life EMS Ambulance after 12.5 years.

On September 11^th 2015, Heath packed up his toolbox and moved it to 625 North Street in Lawton Michigan. It seemed a fitting date to start a business specializing in emergency and fleet vehicles.  HS Fleet Services LLC was opened for that reason. Today HS Fleet Services employ 3 people. Two fleet readiness technicians and one office associate.

Wanting to still volunteer, Heath joined the Lawton Fire Department and Quick response team in March of 2017.  Still utilizing his EMT and Firefighter license, it’s not uncommon to see him leave work to offer assistance. We believe in giving back to the community whenever possible.

We offer preferential service to vehicles that save lives, protect property, and enforce the law.  We also give preference to fleet vehicles that are needed to make money or provide a service.  Although we do repairs to personal vehicles, the emergency and fleet vehicles take priority.
